Haralampi Oroschakoff was born in Czervenkovo (Bulgaria) in 1955. The child of a Russian family, he grew up in Sofia, until his family fled to Belgrade in 1963 and subsequently emigrated to Austria in 1964. Haralampi Oroschakoff spent his school time in Vienna. From 1979 Haralampi Oroschakoff exhibited drawings and photographs, and worked on events as well as installations. Oroschakoff dealt with the issue of inter-cultural dialog between Eastern (Byzantine, Slavian, Oriental) and Western (European) culture and art, he developed a concept of icons and worked with double crosses. Between 1983 and 1997 Oroschakoff lived in Munich and Cannes. Today he lives and works in Berlin and Théoule sur Mer.
