Raoul Ubac was a Belgian painter, photographer and sculptor. After a trip across Europe by foot, Ubac moved to Paris(1930). There he came in contact with the surrealism and started to make surrealistic photos and drawings. Later on he joined the Kunstgewerbeschule in Keulen. In 1938 he participated in an exhibition in Paris, together with other surrealists.

In 1950 he came in contact with the CoBrA movement via Christian Dotremont. He joined some of the CoBrA exhebitions.
