Johan Tahon studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. After a period in poverty and without any recognition of his artwork, he was discovered by Jan Hoet in 1995. As direcor of the former Museum of Contemporary Art in Gent, he invited Tahon to join in on an exhibition in "De Rode Poort" (currently: the SMAK). After this breaktrough, the number of exhibitions increeced spectacularly.
Currently, diferent musea and private collectors have work of this artist. Some of his big sculptures can be seen in the public domain.
He lives in Sint Denijs Boekel (Zwalm) and Iznik (Turkije).
