Jan Henderikse is the founder of the Dutch Informal Group. He was educated at the Free Academy of Den Hague, but left the Netherlands during the fifties. He lived and worked in Köln, Düsseldorf, Curaçao and untill today in Antwerp and New York.
Together with Armando, Jan Schoonhoven and Henk Peeters, Henderikse formed the Dutch Zero Movement (Nul) in 1960. From this group, he is the artist who works with industrial products, garbage and abandoned materials. He sees himself as the artest with the lowest ZERO-quality.
By organizing accumulations with all kinds of ordinary objects, his work is linked to the Frensh Nouveau Réalisme of Arman and Daniel Spoerri.
