Reinier Lucassen is a Dutch painter. He is seen as an important representative of the painter movement called New figuration. Others in this movement are Alphons Freijmuth Pieter Holstein, Etienne Elias and Roger Raveel.

Lucassen studied at the National School for art teachers in Amsterdam. He developed from a 1960 painting style elements from pop art combined with abstract symbols. Lucassen combined elements of pop, like cartoon characters with big strong colored surfaces and expressive elements. Since 1980 he makes smaller, more subdued work sometimes linked to the Aboriginal history: simple points accumulated to powerful characters. Typical for Lucassen is that he often integrates letters and characters in the image.
